Event Description
The California Trail Center's annual Trail Days is the official Freedom 250 event for the state of Nevada, celebrating the 250th birthday of the USA!
Activities will include wagon rides, archery & axe throwing, sage hut building, gold panning, pioneer camp, Shoshone Village, and more.
This is a FREE* event.
• Food and drinks! –Choose from an Authentic Shoshone Taco stand or hamburger/hot dog stand manned by the local VFW. The first 250 lunch patrons (1st 125 each day) will get their meal on a souvenir gold pan.
• Live Music - Outdoor stage with live music all weekend
• Basque and Native Dance presentations
• Pioneer Camp - Interact with a whole slew of pioneers, mountain men, and merchants on the long trail to California. Learn how to craft a wooden barrel from our Coopers or enlist and march with the Mormon Battalion.
• Gold Panning - find your own “gold” the way the 49ers did
• Shoshone Village - Help build a Wickiup (native shelter built from trees and sagebrush), learn about basket weaving, native cooking, natural medicines, and more.
• Archery & Axe Throwing - Practice your hunting skills at our projectiles range.
• Contests and prizes - Watermelon eating, sack races, hoop & stick, pie squares, archery, axe throwing.
• Presentations – Talks on everything from wagons to prospectors to Little House on the Prairie
