Broadway Fire causes temporary closure of Oxbow Recreation Area and surrounding area
YUMA, Ariz. — The Broadway Fire, located approximately 25 miles southwest of Ehrenberg, started the afternoon of May 21 and is currently mapped at 713 acres. For public and firefighter safety, the Bureau of Land Management is closing the Oxbow Recreation Area and surrounding areas, portions of Highway 78 on the California side and local access roads leading to the riverfront will be impacted beginning today and throughout this weekend.
Firefighters are actively working in the area to contain the wildfire and will be working in the area through the weekend. There is no containment to report at this time. All firefighting operations remain focused on protecting structures, critical infrastructure and public safety.
