Event Description
WORLAND, Wyo. — The Bureau of Land Management Worland Field Office will again collaborate with partners on a temporary, local exception to the fireworks ban on public lands for the Independence Day Holiday. The use of fireworks will be permitted July 3–5, 2025, at the first gravel pit along the road to the landfill northwest of Worland.
This yearly event is a group effort from the Worland Fire Protection District, City of Worland, Washakie County, Worland Volunteer Fire Department, Worland Police Department, Washakie County Sherrif’s Office, Cody Regional Health, BLM Law Enforcement, and Wind River/Bighorn Basin BLM Firefighters.
The Worland Fire District mows the surrounding vegetation beforehand at the gravel pit and the City of Worland provides dumpsters. “Please help us help you by using the dumpers provided to clean up the fireworks area,” said Chris Kocher, Washakie County Fire Warden. “This will allow this event to continue into the future."
"Safety and providing a location for low wildfire risk is our priority. It’s great to see families and community coming back to this location to enjoy the holiday with each other and fireworks,” said BLM Worland Acting Field Manager Stacey Whitman Moore. “We hope everyone celebrates a safe Fourth of July."
Fireworks use is permitted only within this gravel pit and not on the Fifteen Mile Road or gravel pits north of the landfill.
The collaboration on this event each year enables an integrated approach to fire management, emergency medical services and law enforcement during the holiday weekend. BLM is grateful to all involved in seeing this event is a safe and successful celebration.
