BLM will install bollards to protect natural resources on the Microplaya

WINNEMUCCA, Nev – The Black Rock Field will be installing bollards on the top of the west Microplaya slopes located north of the Black Rock playa.

The bollards (short posts) will keep traffic on the road and prevent future soil erosion and protect natural and cultural resources on the slopes of the Microplaya..

The categorical exclusion was signed and issued January 15, 2026.This project is located in the Black Rock Desert in Humboldt county. The decision can be found on the BLM National NEPA Registry. For more information, please contact project manager Amber Franklin at 775-623-1500.
