BLM seeks input on environmental analysis for challenged oil and gas leases in Wyoming
CHEYENNE, Wyo. – The Bureau of Land Management is moving forward with supplemental environmental analysis for oil and gas leases in Wyoming that were subject to litigation. The analysis is being conducted to comply with court orders and settlement agreements resulting from legal challenges brought by WildEarth Guardians and other plaintiffs between 2016 and 2020.
A 30-day public comment period begins today and ends Oct. 17, 2025. The supplemental environmental analysis is available on BLM’s ePlanning website at: https://eplanning.blm.gov/eplanning-ui/project/2040555/510.
This supplemental analysis builds upon previous environmental assessments and ensures alignment with recent court orders, Executive Orders, Secretary’s Orders, and current Department of the Interior policy.
The BLM is using all available authorities to expedite permitting, streamline the environmental review process, and provide greater certainty for operators and customers. Completing supplemental analysis will enable responsible oil and gas leasing and development to quickly resume, which is needed to help address the national energy emergency and restore American Energy Dominance.
