BLM Rescinds Temporary Closure of North Hills Recreation Area
BUTTE, Mont. — The Bureau of Land Management’s Butte Field Office announced today that it has rescinded the temporary closure of the North Hills Recreation Area in Lewis and Clark County.
The area has reopened to public access effective June 3. The temporary closure was implemented during fuel‑reduction work involving heavy equipment. The BLM completed 432 acres of fuel reduction in the first phase of the project that will reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire within the wildland urban interface.
With the project now complete, recreation use may resume.
“We appreciate the public’s patience while crews completed this important fuels work,” said Lindsey Babcock, BLM Butte Field Manager.
