LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Colorado River District is planning prescribed burning operations near Parker, Ariz., periodically between March 17 and March 31, 2026, as weather and conditions allow. The treatment area is located seven miles northeast of Parker and one-half mile west of Parker Dam Road near Crossroads, on the California side of the Colorado River. Personnel from the U.S. Wildland Fire Service will conduct the treatment and oversee burning operations, remaining on-site to provide ongoing monitoring.

Removing hazardous accumulations of vegetation and burning cut vegetation piles lowers wildfire risk and improves river access in this recreation area. Multiple burn sessions may be needed to clear debris collected from site maintenance and fire break creation.

To ensure public safety, firefighters will conduct treatments only when weather conditions are conducive to safely burn. They will remain on scene to monitor public and resource safety. Visitors may see some light smoke during the burn operation.

Access to the treatment area may be temporarily restricted during the operation to provide for public safety. If you plan to recreate on public lands managed by the Lake Havasu Field Office, call 928-505-1200 for information on potential prescribed fires in the area.

The BLM manages about 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. Our mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
