CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management, Carson City District, plans to burn 209 acres of slash piles along upper Sunrise Pass Road, in the Pinenut Mountains east of Gardnerville NV. Burning will take place between Jan. 6 and April 30, 2026, when weather and fuels conditions allow for safe pile ignitions.

“Burning will reduce the amount fuels available to a potential future wildfire, creating a strategic roadside fuelbreak along Pinenut Road,” said Jonathan Palma, Fire Management Officer.

BLM wildland fire resources will be on scene during burning. The burn will take place over 15-20 days during periods of stable weather.
