Event Description
BURLEY, Idaho – The Bureau of Land Management Burley Field Office staff is celebrating the 32nd annual National Public Lands Day by inviting volunteers to help clean up areas within the Milner Historic Recreation Area along the south side of the Snake River, 9 miles west of Burley. BLM personnel will meet volunteers at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Bicentennial Boat ramp near the west Milner Historic Recreation Area entrance. Participants should wear hats, boots, and bring gloves. The BLM will provide trash bags, water and a few garbage grabbers will also be available to use.
Volunteers will also receive a Helping Hands for America’s Lands free day-use pass. “Anytime we can join the public for a day to give back and improve conditions is a win-win,” said BLM Burley Field Manager John Elliott. “It’s nice to have an official day and event to recognize our great volunteers working to clean up public lands!”
National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer event for public lands. Established in 1994 and held annually on the fourth Saturday in September, the event brings together thousands of volunteers to help restore and improve public lands around the country. This year’s theme is “Our Home Outdoors,” which highlights the idea that these lands are not just physical spaces – they are where we come together, feel rooted, and develop a sense of place.
