BLM Offers Public Tour of Wild Horse Off-Range Corral in Sutherland

The Bureau of Land Management will host a public tour of the Sutherland Wild Horse Off-Range Corral on August 17, 2026, from 9 a.m. to noon. Attendees will tour the facility, observe wild horses and burros, and learn about the BLM’s Wild Horse and Burro Program.
The Sutherland facility is privately-owned and is one of the five different locations in Utah that provide care to wild horses removed from public lands. The BLM manages wild horse and burro populations on public lands to maintain a healthy ecological balance.
The BLM strives to place wild horses into good, private homes. Animals at the Sutherland corral are made available to the public for adoption or purchase throughout the year at off-site adoption and sale event locations across the country.
The Sutherland wild horse facility encompasses approximately 30 acres, containing 27-plus holding pens in various sizes, and can provide care for up to 1,500 wild horses. Horses at the facility receive abundant feed tailored to their needs each day, along with a constant supply of fresh water through automatic watering troughs. Free choice mineral block supplements are also provided to each animal. A veterinarian routinely inspects the horses and provides medical care, as needed.
