BLM Nevada and Northern Nevada Correctional Center cancel February 2026 wild horse adoption event
RENO, Nev. — The Bureau of Land Management and the Nevada Department of Corrections (NNCC) - Silver State Industries are cancelling the February 2026 wild horse adoption event.
"Due to the recent storms, we felt that for both the animals and the public it was appropriate to cancel the adoption,” said Ruth Thompson, BLM Nevada, Wild Horse and Burro Specialist. “NNCC takes great pride on the level of training of their horses to ensure successful long-term homes, and we are also concerned that road travel within the next week could continue to be an issue.”
Saddle-trained horses from the February 2026 adoption will be offered for adoption March 9–March 16, 2026, at the Online Corral. Pickup location will be at the Palamino Valley Wild Horse Center in Reno and pickup times will be posted on this web page: Wild Horse and Burro Online Corral - Home
Additional information on this partnership, including past and current event catalogs, is posted on-line at https://on.doi.gov/2jE05uy.
