BLM Monticello Field Office plans prescribed pile burns in East Canyon
MONTICELLO, Utah — The Bureau of Land Management plans to ignite slash piles in East Canyon, approximately 10-miles northeast of Monticello and 15-miles south of La Sal, starting Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, pending favorable conditions. If weather or fuel conditions aren’t suitable that day, crews will look for favorable days later in the week. Once initiated, the prescribed pile burns may be conducted throughout the winter, dependent on weather conditions, and will be monitored throughout the process to ensure public safety. There will be minimal recreational impact.
Smoke will be visible from Highways 191, 491, and 46. Weather and fuel moisture levels will be closely monitored.
