The Bureau of Land Management, Sierra Front Field Office has issued a decision authorizing Washoe County to construct, operate, and maintain a stormwater catchment and control facility on BLM-administered lands north of the Heppner Subdivision in Lemmon Valley, Nevada.

The approved right-of-way (ROW), analyzed in Environmental Assessment will help address recurrent flooding, sediment movement, and drainage issues affecting nearby residents. Washoe County will construct a runoff interceptor trench, two stormwater catchment basins, outlet structures, a maintenance access road, livestock exclusion fencing, and associated stormwater management features. The long-term ROW encompasses approximately 13 acres, while an additional 37.5 acres will be used temporarily during construction activities.

Washoe County will implement all approved design features and Best Management Practices and remain responsible for long-term operation and maintenance of the facility. Temporary disturbance areas will be reclaimed and revegetated following construction.
