BLM issues Decision for Vista 4 Water Tank
CARSON CITY, Nev - The Sierra Front Field Office has authorized a right-of-way (ROW) for Truckee Meadows Water Authority to build and operate the Vista 4 Water Tank and an access road east of Sparks, Nevada.
This project will expand potable water storage and enhance fire-flow reliability to support regional growth. BLM will grant a long-term ROW over 6.2 acres for construction and operation of a 20-foot-wide access road, utilities, drainage, power lines, and two steel water tanks. The two water tanks will each be 50 feet in diameter and 24 feet tall, set on concrete pads with paved access. Other infrastructure includes a transformer, telemetry cabinet, antennas, and a nine-foot earth-tone chain-link fence.
The project incorporates BLM best management practices to protect natural and cultural resources, including erosion control, wildlife timing restrictions, dust suppression, equipment cleaning to prevent invasive species spread, and avoidance procedures for sensitive resources. Environmental reviews determined the project would not result in significant impacts. The Decision Record is available at: Vista 4 Water Tank
