The Bureau of Land Management Burns District Office has issued a Categorical Exclusion to implement an in-house bait trap gather to facilitate removal of nuisance burros from private land in the Warm Springs Herd Management Area.  The burros have been residing on fenced private lands within, but excluded from, the Warm Springs HMA south of Riley, Ore. Limited water availability has drawn the animals to a private water source, resulting in fence damage, continued grazing, and financial impacts to the lessee. The BLM traps will be placed on the private land with landowner consent.

The document can be found on the ePlanning website at: Removal of Nuisance Burros from Private Land-Warm Springs HMA. For more information, please contact Brian Christensen at 541-573-4400 or [email protected], or reach out to the Burns District Office at [email protected].
