The Bureau of Land Management, Stillwater Field Office, has issued a decision record for a categorical exclusion authorizing a new year‑round radio communications site at New Pass, Nevada, to improve emergency response capabilities across the Carson City and Battle Mountain Districts. The project includes placing a small, prefabricated communications shelter, a 20‑foot mast, and solar‑powered equipment on four above‑ground concrete pads, requiring no excavation and using only existing access roads. Installation will be completed in a single day once authorization is issued.

This modern communication site will significantly enhance radio coverage for BLM Fire Operations, Law Enforcement, and Recreation programs in an area currently lacking reliable service. Designed to minimize environmental impacts and fully compliant with federal land‑use plans, the project was approved through a Categorical Exclusion after determining it would cause no significant disturbance to natural, cultural, or wildlife resources.
