BLM installs North Spit docks, launches seasonal recreation access
COOS BAY, Ore. — The Bureau of Land Management installed the docks at the North Spit boat ramp, marking the return of seasonal recreational access to Coos Bay.
"The docks are removed from the water each winter to prevent damage from storms and floating debris,” said Tom Beaucage, Acting Coos Bay District Manager. “With the return of calmer conditions in spring and summer, the docks are reinstalled so visitors can once again enjoy the bay.”
As the Nation marks its 250th anniversary, the BLM welcomes visitors to explore public lands and celebrate.
Additional amenities available at the North Spit boat ramp include restrooms, boat trailer parking, and access to the North Spit hiking trails. The BLM plans to remove the docks for winter storage sometime in late fall.
