Event Description

HAMILTON, Mont. — The Bureau of Land Management Montana/Dakotas invites the public to participate in the Bitterroot Valley wild forse and burro adoption event, June 27-29, 2025, at the Matt Bischof Training Facility in Hamilton, Montana. 

This event will offer 40+ wild horses and burros.

Event Schedule: 

  • June 27 – Adoptions (First come, first served): 3 - 7 p.m. 

  • June 28 – Adoptions (First come, first served): 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. 

  • June 29 – Adoptions (First come, first served): 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.  

  • June 29 – Mustang Matt "Next Steps" Clinic: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. 

“Adopting a wild horse or burro is more than just taking home an animal—it’s about forging an unbreakable bond through patience, training, and trust,” said Patrick Merrill, BLM Montana/Dakotas Wild Horse and Burro Coordinator. “Many adopters say it’s one of the most rewarding experiences of their lives.”
