BLM High Plains District lifts fire resctrictions
CASPER, Wyo. – Fire restrictions have been lifted for public lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management in the Buffalo, Casper and Newcastle field offices. Affected counties include Campbell, Converse, Crook, Goshen, Johnson, Natrona, Niobrara, Platte, Sheridan and Weston.
The rescinded order can be viewed online. The following activities can resume on BLM-administered lands:
- Building a campfire
- Smoking
- Operating a chainsaw
- Using an arc or gas welder or operating an acetylene or other torch.
We remind public land users that Wyoming year-round wildfire prevention restrictions remain in effect. Those restrictions include:
- Discharging fireworks
- Discharging firearms using incendiary or tracer ammunition
- Burning or igniting tires, wires, magnesium, or other hazardous or explosive materials
- Operating an off-road vehicle without a properly installed spark arrester
- Discharging explosives of any kind, incendiary devices, pyrotechnic devices, or exploding targets.
