MEDFORD, Ore. – As a result of the Kelsey Peak Fire and the Moon Complex, the Bureau of Land Management Grants Pass Field Office and Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest have issued an emergency closure for a portion of the Rogue River Trail. The public is strongly encouraged to avoid the entire trail. Members of the public may not enter closed areas, and all uses—including hiking, hunting and dispersed camping—are prohibited.

The Rogue River Trail is closed from Horseshoe Bend to Flora Dell. Please visit Oregon/Washington Fire Closures & Restrictions for a map of the BLM closure.

The Kelsey Peak and Moon Complex fires are burning in steep, difficult to access terrain. This closure is to protect the public and reduce impacts to firefighting operations. As it becomes safe to do so, fire managers will begin to assess the closure and its impact in alignment with sound risk management practices.

Weather and fuel conditions remain favorable for continued fire spread. BLM Medford District is in extreme fire danger. Fire restriction information is available at Oregon/Washington Fire Management.

Please call 911 to report any signs of new fires.
