Event Description
CARLSBAD, N.M. – The Bureau of Land Management’s Carlsbad Field Office invites the public to celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday at a Freedom 250 workshop for outdoor recreation skills from 9:30 a.m. to noon on March 28. The event will take place at Halagueno Arts Park, 114 South Halagueno St., Carlsbad.
The workshop will focus on helping families and first-time explorers develop outdoor recreation skills. For example, BLM staff will present information about orienteering basics, desert plants and animals, Leave No Trace principles, knot tying and more.
“The Carlsbad area is filled with great opportunities to find recreation on BLM lands,” said Outdoor Recreation Planner Ashley Shreves. “Outdoor recreation skill building is important for safely connecting with public lands and ultimately, having a fun, positive experience.”
The Carlsbad Field Office plans to hold more Freedom 250 events throughout the year and will make announcements in the weeks leading up to events. Freedom 250 is the national, nonpartisan organization leading the celebration of our nation’s birthday. Events will take place around the country that honor our history, showcase the beauty of the United States, ignite innovation, and strengthen the faith that will carry our nation forward for the next 250 years.
