BLM Authorizes Energy Exploration in Sevier Co. and Habitat Restoration Project in Carbon & Emery Counties
Authorization Issued for Exploration Well Redrilling at Carter Peak Pad
The BLM Richfield Field Office has issued the Categorical Exclusion and Decision Record for NEPA number: DOI-BLM-UT-C020-2026-0006-CE. The BLM received an application from LT Land Group LLC, that requested to redrill an exploration well on the previously plugged and abandoned Carter Peak Federal 13-1 well on the Carter Peak Pad in Richfield Field Office, Utah. LT Land Group LLC would be required to conduct a mechanical integrity test (MIT) on the existing surface casing as a condition of approval prior to drilling the well. If the integrity of the surface casing fails, the well hole will be plugged and abandoned according to all applicable laws and regulations and LT Land Group LLC will sidestep and drill a new exploration well on the well pad.

Large-Scale Habitat Restoration Targets Noxious Weeds in Carbon and Emery Counties
The BLM Price Field Office is initiating a habitat restoration project to control noxious weeds across past fuel and habitat treatment areas. The effort will cover approximately 7,934.9 acres of BLM-managed lands within the Price Field Office boundaries. Monitoring will be conducted through photo plots and field observations before, during, and after treatments to evaluate effectiveness and determine if maintenance actions are needed. This project supports long-term ecosystem health and habitat resilience in Carbon and Emery counties.
