BLM approves Tusc Pit conversion to waste rock facility
ELKO, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management approved the Tusc Pit Backfill Waste Rock Dump Facility Modification (Project). The Project would backfill the Tusc Pit with approximately 79 million tons of Non potentially acid generating rock material from the Gold Quarry Pit.
The proposed action is a modification to the Gold Quarry Plan of Operations to eliminate a potential safety hazard on both public and private land due to unstable highwalls and the potential for failure in the existing pit.
