BLM approves sale of 5,500 public acres in Lincoln County, Nevada
ELY, Nev. — The Bureau of Land Management has approved the sale of 66 parcels totaling approximately 5,500 public acres in Lincoln County. The sales date will be announced separately, along with such details as the specific location of each parcel and its legal description, encumbrances, reservations, rights-of-way, acreage and fair market value. The parcels are located near the towns of Rachel, Hiko, Alamo, Mt. Wilson, Pioche, Panaca, Caliente, and Crestline.
The sale complies with the Lincoln County Conservation, Recreation, and Development Act of 2004, enacted to establish wilderness areas and fund conservation projects in the county through the sale of public lands. Of the funds generated by the sale, 85% will support county recreation, wilderness planning, and the protection of archaeological and natural resources; 5% will go to the State of Nevada for education; and 10% will go to Lincoln County.
This land sale was analyzed under an environmental assessment, which is available on the BLM National NEPA Register. Today’s announcement begins a 30-day appeal period, which will end on November 15, 2025.
