BLM approves pozzolan exploration project in Elko County
ELKO, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management has approved the Beacon Hill pozzolan exploration project in sedimentary volcanic ash deposits near West Wendover in Elko County. The project includes approximately 48 total acres of surface disturbance across the 1,055-acre project area.
Graymont Western U.S. Inc. may use sonic drilling to explore for pozzolan and construct a laydown yard, bulk sampling pit, roads, drill pads, and associated infrastructure.
Pozzolan is used to improve the strength and durability of concrete.
The project documents are available to view at the BLM National NEPA Register. For more information, please contact BLM Geologist Harley Gordon at [email protected] or (775) 753-0251.
