BLM approves permanent closure of Abandoned Mine Lands hazards in Lincoln County, Nevada

ELY, Nev. — The Bureau of Land Management has approved the permanent closure of 47 abandoned mine hazards around the ghost town of Delamar and Helene, Nevada. These hazards have been identified as potential public safety risks. The Nevada Division of Minerals has collaborated with the Nevada BLM State Office and Nevada Department of Wildlife to survey the hazards and determine the appropriate closure methods. All closures would be completed with minimal disturbance.
