BLM approves parcels for geothermal leasing in southern Idaho

BOISE, Idaho—The Bureau of Land Management Idaho State Office has issued decisions to offer 18 parcels for competitive geothermal lease in southern Idaho, subject to appropriate stipulations to protect natural resource values. These parcels encompass approximately 11,940 acres in Cassia County; nearly 7,655 acres in Blaine and Camas counties; and about 51,048 acres in Owyhee County. These parcels will be offered during a competitive geothermal lease sale on Dec. 16, 2025. For information on the sale, please visit the BLM Idaho Geothermal Energy website.

The environmental assessments evaluated potential impacts from geothermal leasing and included opportunities for public input.
