BATTLE MOUNTAIN, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management has approved the Mount Hope molybdenum mine on public and private lands near Eureka in Eureka County. Molybdenum is used as an alloying agent in steel, cast iron, and superalloys to enhance hardenability, strength, toughness, and wear and corrosion resistance.

The Mount Hope ore body contains approximately 966 million tons of molybdenum disulfide ore that will produce approximately 1.1 billion pounds of recoverable molybdenum during the ore processing time frame.

Projects like this support President Trump’s Executive Order 14241, “Immediate Measures to Increase American Mineral Production,” and reduce U.S. reliance on foreign minerals, enhance national security, and create jobs.
