RENO, Nev. — The Bureau of Land Management approved the Nevada Interstate 80 Middle Mile Project, an approximately 404-mile-long buried fiber optic network spanning the state of Nevada along the I-80 corridor.

The project is expected to improve broadband internet quality and access in northern Nevada. It aligns with the MOBILE NOW Act and Executive Order 13821 which aim to bring affordable and reliable high-speed internet access to every American.

The Nevada Governor’s Office of Science, Innovation and Technology is coordinating broadband planning, mapping, and procurement to ensure connectivity across the state for schools, libraries, hospitals, clinics, and communities to meet national standards.
