BLM approves gold exploration project in Goldfield mining district
TONOPAH, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management today approved gold exploration across approximately 15,294 acres of public and private lands over 10 years near Goldfield in Esmeralda County.
Projects like this support President Trump’s Executive Order 14241, “Immediate Measures to Increase American Mineral Production,” to boost domestic mineral production and reduce U.S. reliance on foreign minerals, enhance national security, and create jobs.
With this approval, Gemfield Resources, LLC, may conduct geophysical surveys, improve or build access roads, perform exploratory drilling and trenching, and eventually return the land to its original state. Approximately 5,269 acres in the project area are BLM-administered public lands and 10,025 acres are private lands above federal mineral estate. The total planned surface area disturbance is up to 400 acres.
Additional information, including planning documents, is available at the BLM National NEPA Register. For more information, please contact BLM Planning and Environmental Coordinator Jeff Kirkwood at BLM_NV_BMDO_P&[email protected] or 775-635-4164.
