BLM Approves a Geothermal Lease Sale and two APDs in Utah
2026 Geothermal Lease Sale
The BLM Utah State Office has signed the Environmental Assessment, Finding of No Significant Impact, and Decision Record for the 2026 Geothermal lease sale. In the decision, the BLM proposed to lease 37 parcels (totaling 74,891.93 acres) on public lands managed by the BLM’s Cedar City (CCFO) and Filmore (FFO) Field Offices. RP Oil Wells
The BLM Vernal Field Office has issued an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the RP Oil Wells: DOI-BLM-UT-G010-2026-0154-EA. The Responsible Official signed a decision record approving two Applications for Permit to Drill which authorize Uinta Wax Operating LLC (the applicant) to drill oil wells from the existing RP Tribal Well Pad to produce from their existing Indian Trust mineral lease. The project location is on BIA-administered surface in Section 21 of Township 3 South, Range 1 West, of Duchesne County, Utah. The BLM decision only applies to the minerals under its administration.
