TONOPAH, Nev.  The Bureau of Land Management, Tonopah Field Office has approved a modification to the Gemfield Mine Project’s 2019 gold mining Plan of Operations. This Determination of NEPA Adequacy allows Gemfield Resources, LLC, to increase surface disturbance at the mine by 96 acres. Additionally, it finalizes the design of facilities at the site.

Projects like this support President Trump’s Executive Order 14241, “Immediate Measures to Increase American Mineral Production,” boost domestic mineral production, reduce U.S. reliance on foreign minerals, enhance national security, and create jobs.

The Gemfield Project’s 2019 Environmental Impact Statement forecasted an earnings impact to Esmeralda County of $5.1 million with a total of $18.9 million in combined wages and benefits through 2029.

Additional information, including planning documents, is available at the BLM National NEPA Register. For more information, please contact BLM Planning and Environmental Coordinator Jeff Kirkwood at BLM_NV_BMDO_P&[email protected] or 775-635-4164.
