BLM announces fire prevention order for East Steens Mountain area

HINES, Ore.—The Bureau of Land Management has implemented restrictions and prohibitions on specific activities and equipment to mitigate the risk of human-caused fires on lands administered by the BLM Burns District.

This order is effective at 12:01 a.m. PDT on June 19, 2026, and will remain in effect on BLM-administered lands on those public lands within the Burns District, Oregon, from Highway 78 and Folly Farm Road, southwest along the crest of the Steens Mountain and the crest of the Pueblo Mountains to the Oregon/Nevada border, and then following the Burns District boundary east and north until it reaches the Folly Farm Road at Highway 78. This order will remain in place until further notice.

This order is effective at 12:01 a.m. PDT on June 19, 2026, and will remain in effect on BLM-administered lands within the described boundary until further notice.
