Big Grass Fire Prompts Temporary Closure for BLM Lands in Owyhee County
MARSING, Idaho—The Bruneau and Owyhee Field Offices are extending the temporary closure dated August 10, 2026. All public lands within the perimeter of the fire remain closed to the public.
The following areas remain closed to the public:
- Flint Creek Road – from Yturri Blvd to Triangle Rd
- South Mountain Road – from Pleasant Valley Elementary School to the east
- Juniper Mountain Road - south of Pleasant Valley Elementary School
- Bachman Grade Road - south of Toy Pass
- Mud Flat Road – from the junction of Antelope Ridge Rd to the west
- North of 45 Ranch Road – from the Duck Valley Reservation border
The closure will remain in place and is anticipated to be lifted September 6th, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. This closure is necessary to ensure the safety of the public and firefighters engaged in suppression operations on the Big Grass Fire in Idaho. Highways 78 and 51 remain open to travel.
