Big Grass Fire Prompts Temporary Closure for BLM Lands in Owyhee County
MARSING, Idaho—The Bureau of Land Management Owyhee Field Office is issuing a temporary closure of the entire area south of Trout Creek Rd and Silver City Rd from the Oregon border east to Highway 78 and Highway 51 to the Nevada border, Owyhee County, beginning August 8, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. and is anticipated to be lifted August 20, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Highway 78 and 51 remain open.
This closure is necessary to ensure the safety of the public and firefighters engaged in suppression operations on the Big Grass Fire in Idaho. This closure does not affect private land. The area would be monitored by BLM and County Law Enforcement personnel to ensure compliance with the closure.
