Big 33 and Moonshadow East oil wells approved; Wedding event permit authorized
Uinta Wax Operating LLC authorized to develop Big 33 oil wells
The Bureau of Land Management Vernal Field Office has issued an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Big 33 Oil Wells: DOI-BLM-UT-G010-2026-0087-EA. The Responsible Official signed a decision record under which the BLM will approve three Applications for Permit to Drill for the applicant, Uinta Wax Operating LLC, to drill oil wells to produce from their existing Indian Trust mineral leases. The EA also analyzed non-surface effects from construction of the well pad and associated infrastructure on private surface as effects related to the proposed action. The project location is approximately 9.5 linear miles southeast of Myton, Utah in Section 33, Township 3 South, Range 1 East, U.S.M, in Uintah County, Utah.

BLM approves six new oil wells for Moonshadow East project
The Bureau of Land Management Vernal Field Office has issued an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Moonshadow East Oil Wells: DOI-BLM-UT-G010-2026-0089-EA. The Responsible Official signed a decision record under which the BLM will approve six Applications for Permit to Drill for the applicant, Uinta Wax Operating LLC, to drill oil wells to produce from their existing Indian Trust mineral leases. Fifteen total wells would be drilled on the pad, but nine would produce only private minerals; those wells and construction of the well pad and supporting infrastructure are not part of the proposed action authorized by the BLM decision. The project location is approximately 4.3 linear miles southeast of Roosevelt, Utah in Section 20, Township 2 South, Range 1 East, U.S.M, in Uintah County, Utah.
