Event Description

This Saturday April 13, the Bureau of Land Management Las Cruces District Office Cultural and Recreation staff, along with the Pueblo of Tortugas, will be hosting a work day at Tortugas Mountain in celebration of Earth Day. The event is schedule from 8 a.m. - noon.

BLM staff will be meeting members of the public at 8 a.m. at the Sunset Parking Lot (NMSU side) and hiking with them to the summit to perform the work. Some BLM team members will be accessing the summit via the road so don't let the hike deter you! Work includes deconstructing fire rings, picking up trash, graffiti removal, and moving a large pile of rocks that was illegally placed on the Pueblo's alter.  Gloves, water, snacks, and last years left over National Public Lands Day shirts are provided!
