Grand Junction Field Office hydrologist earns Safety Award

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Today the Bureau of Land Management’s Colorado State Director Helen Hankins presented Nate Dieterich, hydrologist for the Grand Junction Field Office, with the annual State Director’s Safety Award.
The award recognizes work groups, individual employees and volunteers who best exemplify safe practices during the year. The award is intended to recognize exceptional service and accomplishments beyond the normal call of duty.
In 2012, Dieterich volunteered as the Grand Junction Field Office Collateral Duty Safety Officer and served as the Grand Junction Safety Committee Chair.
“Nate’s dedication to safety exemplifies the spirit of this award,” said Hankins. “I’m proud to recognize Nate for all his hard work and encourage our employees to follow his example.”
Under Dieterich’s leadership, Grand Junction organized and hosted one of their most successful safety weeks. Employees had an opportunity to participate in a variety of sessions such as CPR, First Aid, 4-wheel driving, hazmat, and trailer towing.
On a daily basis, Dieterich is willing to assist with any safety issues around the office such as outfitting field vehicles with safety equipment or demonstrating the proper way to chain up a vehicle.
