BLM Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to Celebrate Grand Opening of New Facility

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Arizona – The Bureau of Land Management’s Colorado River District and Lake Havasu Field Offices will celebrate the grand opening of their new facility with a public ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday, August 24, at 10 a.m.
Located at 1785 Kiowa Avenue, Lake Havasu City, the new facility will better meet the needs of the staff and public with an updated, resource efficient work environment delivering a cost savings over the former location.
Previously located at 2610 Sweetwater Avenue in Lake Havasu City, the Colorado River District & Lake Havasu Field Offices employ over 30 personnel whose responsibilities encompass the oversight and management of public lands.
“We are excited about our new facility, and proud to be able to continue to sustain the health, diversity and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations,” said Acting Associate District Manager Jerry Davis.
The Bureau of Land Management’s Colorado River District oversees 4.9 million acres of public land with 1.3 million acres overseen by the Lake Havasu Field Office. The area includes portions of Arizona's La Paz and Mohave counties, and California's San Bernardino County and includes more than 140 miles of the lower Colorado River.
The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation.
