The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), in conjunction with Beaver County, will celebrate the grand opening of the Mammoth Crossing Trail Head and the Sage Advise Trail, which is the first section of the Beaver Bench Trail System, at 6:30 p.m., July 7 at the trailhead.
Sage Advise represents the first three miles of a planned 25-30 miles of non-motorized trail running through the area that is commonly known as Beaver Bench. The recreation plan and construction of the trail are collaborative efforts between the BLM’s Cedar City Field Office and Beaver County.
“Beaver County has been key to the success of this trail. They’re actually the ones who asked the BLM to start looking for a trail system in the county,” said David Jacobson, the outdoor recreation planner with the field office. “They’ve contributed funds, they built the trailhead; they have come to the table full force and are an amazing partner.”
“I am very excited to see a new experience become available in Beaver County, with the construction and opening of the Mammoth Crossing Trail Head,” said Beaver County Commissioner Mike Dalton. “I want to thank all those involved for putting the trail together and looking forward to it being officially open. These joint venture projects show how we can work together to accomplish great recreation possibilities.”
The interagency area plan includes proposals that could connect the Mammoth Crossing Trailhead to other popular campgrounds and recreation sites.
The trailhead is located 3.3 miles east on UT-153, just five minutes from downtown Beaver. The trail is the first non-motorized trail on BLM-managed land in Beaver County and will be open to all non-motorized travel except for equestrian (horseback).
