The BLM is seeking applications for two available commercial river permits on the Lower Dolores River
MOAB, Utah – The Bureau of Land Management is inviting commercial outfitters, guide services and others to apply for a Special Recreation Permit to use the facilities and stream banks along the Lower Dolores River between Gateway, Colorado and Dewey Bridge.
Following the agency review of the submitted applications, a maximum of two SRPs would be offered for the 2026 season with the option of renewal based on the performance and compliance with the permit stipulations as a permit holder.
There are 14 allocated commercial river permits on the Lower Dolores River between Gateway and Dewey Bridge. The available permits are for unallocated (unlimited) use. All applications received by the close of the announcement will be evaluated and ranked based the application packet. The criteria used to rate each application is listed at the end of the packet. Rating will be performed by a panel of four or more resource specialists within the Moab Field Office.
The application period will be open for 60 days beginning May 22, 2025. All applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on July 22, 2025.
