BLM announces temporary closures for Bonneville Salt Flats summer speed racing events
WENDOVER, Utah – The Bureau of Land Management will temporarily close portions of the Bonneville Salt Flats Special Recreation Management Area to allow for various speed racing events.
The temporary closures will be in effect on the following days:
SCTA Speed Week | 7/28/25 - 8/9/25 |
Motorcycle Speed Trials | 8/25/25 - 8/29/25 |
USFRA World of Speed | 9/2/25 - 9/9/25 |
SCTA World Finals | 9/24/25 - 9/30/25 |
Vehicles will still have access to Bonneville Salt Flats on the paved road and the parking area. Pedestrian access will be limited to a short walking distance (not to exceed 100 feet) onto the salt flats for viewing or taking photos. The Bonneville Salt Flats will be closed to all vehicles and visitors except law enforcement, emergency vehicles, event personnel, event participants, and BLM personnel.
Signs, fencing, and/or barriers will be visible in restricted areas. Event participants will be required to remain within the designated area.
Consistent with 43 CFR 8364.1, these temporary closures will help to keep participants, spectators, and the visiting public safe while the world-famous speed racing events are underway.
