BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Bureau of Land Management is issuing seasonal fire restrictions for public lands managed by the Bakersfield Field Office effective Monday, May 20, due to dry conditions and high wildland fire danger. These seasonal restrictions are in addition to the year-round statewide fire prevention order. This seasonal fire order will remain in effect until further notice.
MARINA, Calif. – The Bureau of Land Management is issuing seasonal fire restrictions for public lands managed by the Central Coast Field Office effective Monday, May 20, due to dry conditions and wildland fire danger. These seasonal restrictions are in addition to the year-round statewide fire prevention order, and the permanent fire restrictions in place at the Fort Ord National Monument and Cotoni-Coast Dairies. This seasonal fire order will remain in effect until further notice.
Eric Hollenbeck, a nationally renowned woodworking craftsman and lifelong resident of the California North Coast, will be the featured presenter in a storytelling event set for Wednesday, July 17, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Headwaters Education Center within the Headwaters Forest Reserve.
The Bureau of Land Management has elevated its seasonal fire restrictions effective May 22 for public lands managed by the BLM California Desert District within Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, Imperial, southern Inyo, eastern Mono, San Diego, and eastern Kern counties. These restrictions will remain in effect until October 24 unless terminated sooner if conditions warrant.
The Bureau of Land Management is implementing new fees for recreation sites in the King Range National Conservation Area on the North Coast, and for the Steiner Flat and Ohl Olsen campgrounds managed by the Redding Field Office, to improve access to public lands, enhance public health and safety, and better protect natural resources.
EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. – A flock of nearly 900 sheep will arrive in early May at the Bureau of Land Management’s Cronan Ranch, and a flock of nearly 600 sheep will arrive in mid-May at Magnolia Ranch, to graze invasive weeds and reduce wildfire threat. Sheep herders will manage the flocks, moving them across the grassy slopes and meadows with assistance from herding dogs and livestock protection dogs. The sheep will be grazing behind temporary fencing to allow the sheep herder to keep the sheep in an area long enough to have the vegetation uniformly grazed and/or trampled down.
REDDING, Calif. – With summer camping season just around the corner, the Bureau of Land Management is announcing that Trinity River campgrounds along State Route 299 will open Friday, May 3. These campgrounds are first-come, first-served. There are no reservations.
