Opening of Muddy Mountain Road Delayed

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Casper Field Office announced today that Muddy Mountain Road will not be open for Memorial Day weekend.

"Due to snow and wet conditions, Muddy Mountain Road will remain closed over the Memorial Day weekend. BLM will continue to monitor snow pack and will open the road when conditions improve and travel does not pose a safety risk to the public," noted Assistant Field Manager for Resources, Rhen Etzelmiller.

Muddy Mountain road is closed on an annual basis for public safety and resource protection. The closure normally runs from the end of November through the beginning of June.

Muddy Mountain Road is the primary access route to the Muddy Mountain Environmental Education Area (EEA), which includes two campgrounds and numerous recreation trails.
