Public Input Requested on Right-of-way Application

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Casper Field Office has received a right-of-way application from Converse County to upgrade a segment of the Mormon Canyon Road (Converse County Road No. 18).

Upgrading is needed to widen the road and reduce tight curves. This will improve public, residential and ranch access in the area, and accommodate transportation of wind turbine components associated with the Pioneer Park Wind Farm. The existing county road traverses about ¼ mile over a single parcel of public land located 10 miles south of Glenrock, Wyo. and is described as Sixth Principal Meridian, T. 32 N., R. 76 W., sec. 13, lot 1. The existing roadway across public land is in a narrow canyon with steep sides and a drainage crossing.

BLM is providing notice of the proposed right-of-way and requesting comments from the public, local landowners and concerned citizens. Comments will be used to identify any land use or natural resource issues in anticipation of completing an analysis of the project as required by the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969.

Comments must be written and submitted to the BLM Casper Field Office at 2987 Prospector Drive, Casper, WY 82604 by Oct. 26, 2012. Comments received after this date may not be considered in processing the application. Comments may also be submitted electronically to: Questions about the proposal can be directed to Randy Sorenson at (307) 261-7522 or the above email address.

The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land, the most of any Federal agency. In Fiscal Year 2015, the BLM generated $4.1 billion in receipts from activities occurring on public lands.
