Viva Naughton Cross-Country Ski Trail Now Open

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Kemmerer Field Office (KFO) has groomed the Viva Naughton Cross-Country Ski Trail and it is now open for public use.

The four-mile trail is primarily flat with some small hills. It is designed exclusively for the use of cross-country skiers and will be groomed once a week or as the weather dictates. There is no charge for using the trail.

The trail head is located at the north end of Lake Viva Naughton, 18 miles north of Kemmerer, Wyo. on Lincoln County Road 233, and is directly across from the snowmobile trail head parking lot.

For a map of the Viva Naughton loop, please visit the KFO at 312 Highway 189 N. in Kemmerer. For more information, call Wally Mierzejewski, outdoor recreation planner, at 307-828-4508.

The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land, the most of any Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. In Fiscal Year 2015, the BLM generated $4.1 billion in receipts from activities occurring on public lands.
