IA359 Wildfire Burning in Brooks Draw Area

Bureau of Land Management High Desert District (HDD) and Sweetwater County firefighters are attempting to suppress the very active IA359 wildfire in the Brooks Draw area 45 miles south of Rock Springs, Wyo.

The fire size is between 200 and 250 acres in grass, sagebrush and juniper on mixed private and federal land. A joint command with Sweetwater County has been established and firefighters are pursuing full suppression of this wildfire due to its location in a designated sage-grouse core area. Two single-engine air tankers, or SEATs, are dropping retardant.

Containment of this fire is estimated for Aug. 19.
