The Bureau of Land Management Kemmerer Field Office (KFO) will hold informational open houses for the Dempsey-Rock Creek (DRC) Travel Management Plan (TMP) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on May 4 at the Best Western Fossil Country Inn, 760 Hwy. 189/30, Kemmerer, Wyo., May 10 at the BLM Rock Springs Field Office, 280 Hwy. 191 N., Rock Springs, Wyo., and May 19 at the Uinta County Library, 701 Main St., Evanston, Wyo.

Also on May 4, KFO Recreation Planner Wally Mierzejewski will discuss the DRC TMP on Kemmerer’s KMER 950 AM radio at 5:05 p.m.

The 125,000 acre DRC area is located 10 miles northwest of Kemmerer. An estimated 1,100 miles of trails and roads currently intersect it and new ones are regularly being created. A TMP will help provide and manage public access, maintain existing access rights and protect various resource values. The public is strongly encouraged to submit comments on their current usage of the DRC area and how they hope it will be used and managed in the future.

More information about the DRC TMP is available at

Please contact Mierzejewski at 307-828-4508 or with any questions or comments regarding the DRC TMP.

The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. In Fiscal Year 2015, the BLM generated $4.1 billion in receipts from activities occurring on public lands.
