BLM Announces Changes to Upcoming Oil and Gas Lease Sale

The Bureau of Land Management’s Wyoming State Office (BLM) announced today that 94 parcels will be offered at its oil and gas lease sale scheduled for Nov. 2, 2010, at the Holiday Inn in Cheyenne, Wyo.

The BLM had originally identified 156 parcels to be offered at the November lease sale and 128 were protested. Sixty-two of the protested parcels will require additional environmental analysis before they can be offered for lease and will therefore be deferred to a later sale.

Copies of the November competitive oil and gas lease sale notice and an information notice identifying the deferred parcels will be available at the sale. The notices can also be viewed on the web at:

The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land, the most of any Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. In Fiscal Year 2015, the BLM generated $4.1 billion in receipts from activities occurring on public lands.
