Casper Field Office Plans Prescribed Burn

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Casper Field Office is planning to conduct a prescribed burn within Natrona County, Wyo.

The project is located 16 miles south of Casper, in the Bates Hole area. Implementation of the prescribed fire may begin as early as October 23, 2010.

BLM plans to treat approximately 1200 acres of grass, sagebrush, and limber pine. The objectives of the prescribed burn are:

  • Improve the health and condition of associated sagebrush grassland communities.
  • Improve diversity and structure of these components.
  • Improve habitat quality and quantity for wildlife.
  • Promote regeneration in aspen stands.

This prescribed burn project will be conducted in accordance with an approved burn plan if favorable weather and fuel conditions permit. For more information, please contact Eric Fransted at (307) 261-7696 or Craig Short at (307)-261-7698.
