BLM to Host
White Mountain Wind Energy Open House
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will host an open house for the proposed White Mountain Wind Energy Project on
Dec. 11, 2008.
The open house will be held between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Rock Springs Field Office, Highway 191 N., Rock Springs, Wyo. A project presentation will be held at 4:00 p.m. and again at 5:30 p.m. The BLM will be accepting comments on the proposed project during the open house.
The proposed project would be developed in phases, resulting in a 350 megawatt (MW) electrical generation facility consisting of approximately 240, 1.5 MW turbines. Ancillary facilities include access roads, underground collection system, staging areas, batch plant, operation/maintenance building, and a substation to connect the power to an existing powerline.
The 13,145 acre project area encompasses private, state, and BLM-administered public lands located on White Mountain, west-northwest of Rock Springs. The project is expected to take three to five years to complete and would operate continuously with a project life of 40 years.
